HALTER WESTERN ENGLISH GYMKHANA

 

Age Divisions for Riders: Age is determined as of January 1, of this show year~

SHOW: 13 & Under, 14 - 18, 19 & Over, Novice 19 & Over, 40 & Over**

GYMKHANA: 9 & Under Unassisted, 10 - 13, 14 - 18, 19 & Over, Novice 19 & Over, 40 & Over**

          

**40 and Over Division: Contestants are not awarded ribbons in this division. They are awarded daily high point and reserve trophies, and year end points are accrued as in all other classes for year end awards. If an adult, over 40, would like to compete for ribbons, they are allowed to compete in the 19 and Over division. However, rider must pick only one adult age division to show in, for each horse/rider combination.

NOVICE 19 and Over Division: (point division)   To provide the inexperienced rider, 19 & over, or green horse, classes to compete in, with others in their own skill level. Should contestants abuse the purpose of these classes, it will be the show committee's decision to exclude them from the division. This division is intended for a first year horse, first year discipline, or first year rider only. Gymkhana committee reserves the right to remove contestants from Novice division if their times place them consistently in the top 4 placings of the 19 & Over Division.

9 and UNDER UNASSISTED: Gymkhana division, meant for young riders, who ride without assistance, to complete patterns and compete with others in their age group.  Eligible for daily and year end awards.

LEAD LINE Classes: Intended for tots, handicapped persons, and others that will be lead on a lead rope through this class, any age. Show Pleasure class, Gymkhana In Line Barrels, Keyhole, and Poles.  For any age riders that are led, or assisted through the patterns.  Assistance will be considered if the ground person passes through the timer with the rider, or is in the arena guiding the horse in any way. No points will be awarded for this division.  No Year End awards.                 

 

DAILY HIGH POINT:

Rider/horse combination must compete in a minimum of three POINTS classes each day in the horse show, per discipline. (Open and leadline classes not points classes.)

OR Rider/horse combination must compete in a minimum of four classes each day at the gymkhana.

Points will be awarded to the entry number of the same horse and rider combination each show. A High Point trophy and Reserve trophy  will be awarded to the most points accrued in each riding division (English, Western, and Gymkhana), in each age division, each show day.  In the event of high point ties, the tie-breaker will be showmanship for the horse show, and barrels for gymkhana. If there is still a tie, then a secondary pattern class will be picked.  (NOTE:  Points will be awarded to entry number of the same horse and rider combination, not individually to either horse or rider.)

Points are tabulated as follows, regardless of how many horses are entered in a class:

First place= 6 points

Second place = 5 points

Third place = 4 points

Fourth place = 3 points

Fifth place= 2 points

Sixth place = 1 point

Grand Champion Halter, awarded 2 additional points.

Reserve Grand Champion Halter, awarded 1 additional point.

 

YEAR-END REQUIREMENTS: The same horse and rider combination must be the same throughout the year for year-end awards.  Only one change is permitted and it requires a vet certificate and board approval.  Must be a member of AHA for each show in which points are acquired in order for those points to count. 

1.       Must participate in at least three shows or gymkhanas as a member.

2.    Must attend one board meeting.

3.    Must meet daily high point requirements (above) for three shows or gymkhanas.

4.   Qualifier must work a minimum of two hours of volunteer time during show, gymkhana, or helping the club with other approved activities or duties. Riders younger than 9 years old can have a parent work for them.
